If you’ve made it to this page, it is pretty likely you are looking to find out more about me:

New York City

I currently reside in New York City. I was born in Brooklyn, and spent the majority of my life in Greenwich Village.  I am one of the few, the proud, the ‘Native New Yorker’: an endangered sub-species of the ‘The New Yorker’.

Caregiving

In late 2005, my mother had a major stroke which resulted in initial paralysis of the right side of her body and aphasic speech. I have spent the past seven years assisting my mom with her recovery, her daily needs, and longer term solutions as we get a better understanding of what kinds of assistance she will need.

In addition, I have also been caring for my younger sister since 2006 when she was an adolescent, to today when she is a freshman in college. I’m excited that she has survived to mini-adulthood! My sister is a pretty amazing girl, I’m honestly proud to have had a part in her upbringing — and look forward to see what she will do next.

Geekery:

I’m a part of the New York City Gaming Community. That is my hobby is playing games and I do that a lot. Video Games, Role-playing Games (RPGs), Online Gaming, Board Games, Card Games, you name it I’ve probably done it, or know people that do and have a story about it. I imagine this stuff will come up too on occasion.

Organizational Behavior & Practice –

I went back to school after being laid off in 2009 – I changed my major from Politics to Organizational Behavior (OB). OB creeps into everything I do. You will probably find more than few references to this discipline.  My apologies in advance – I will try to keep it to a minimum.

Finally, thank you for reading the blog. Feel free to comment and start discussions. I decided to start blogging to find other people who were doing the same things I did, or help others who are looking for friendly advice on the various subjects.

Best,

RachelSanks
